Dry Herb vs Oil Vaporizer: Which Should I Choose?

Vaporizers offer a safe and efficient alternative to traditional tobacco pipes. They work on the principle on heating your preferred substance just enough to create a light plume of breathable vapor. Because there's no fire or combustion occurring during this process, there's no smoke -- and without smoke, there's none of the toxic chemicals and compounds present in the vapor.

But one of the decisions you'll have to make when choosing a vaporizer is whether to go with a dry herb or liquid model. Dry herb vaporizers are intended for use with dry herb, whereas liquid vaporizers are intended for use with liquid oils. Both types have similar components, relying on a precise heating element to warm the substance. So, should you choose a dry herb or liquid vaporizer?

Do you enjoy vaping flavored products? If so, you should probably stick with a liquid oil vaporizers. Liquid oil vaporizers can be used in conjunction with e-liquid and similar flavored oils, opening the doors to a whole new world of vaping possibilities. Dry herb vaporizers, on the other hand, can not be used for this purpose -- not without risking damage to the unit, at least.

Whether you choose a dry herb or liquid oil vaporizer, you're going to have to perform some routine maintenance on it. This includes taking it apart and cleaning each individual component. Over time, resin will accumulate within the atomizer, restricting the flow of air while degrading the quality of vapor that it produces. It's important to note, however, that liquid oil vaporizers are more susceptible to this phenomenon, simply because the liquid oil has a tendency to drip down into hard-to-reach places.

A key advantage of choosing a liquid oil vaporizer as opposed to a dry herb vaporizer is portability. Liquid oil vaporizers are typically small, compact and easy to transport. This alone is huge benefit, especially if you plan on traveling with your vaporizer.

Of course, there are some vaporizers that are capable of vaping both liquid oil and dry herb. These dual-purpose vaporizers allow you to get the best of both worlds. However, you can expect to pay for more them when compared to either a dry herb or liquid oil vaporizer. Hopefully, this will give you a better understanding of the differences between the two different types of vaporizers and which one is right for you.
